About Chinese Medicine
What IS Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine?
Chinese Medicine dates back 3000+ years. The medicine is rooted in Taoism and has evolved over thousands of years. It encompasses many different practices including acupuncture, moxibustion, tuina, guasha, Chinese herbal medicine, qi gong, etc.
How Does Acupuncture Work?
Chinese Medicine focuses on channels of energy that run in regular patterns through the body and on its surface. These channels, or meridians, are influenced by needling specific acupuncture points along them which serve to unblock obstructions and re-establish a regular and balanced flow. The imbalance or obstruction of this energy (qi) is what leads to pain and disease. Acupuncture encourages the body to promote natural healing and function. Acupuncture isn't just used to treat pain. This medicine can help balance internal organs, muscles and tissues. Acupuncture is used to promote health and well-being, to prevent illness, and to treat various medical conditions.
Does It Hurt?
People experience acupuncture differently, however, most people report minimal or no pain. Needles are single-use disposable sterile needles as thin as a cat whisker. After the needles are placed it is common to feel the sensation of qi which can be described as tingly, slightly dull, a pulling or a heaviness. Qi is a sensation you will come to crave!

What Can Acupuncture Treat?
Acupuncture can help provide relief from ailments like:
Neck and Shoulder Pain Headaches Fatigue Digestive Disorders Anxiety Depression Inflammation Gynecological Issues Cold/Flu Circulatory Problems Menopausal Symptoms Allergies Musculoskeletal Issues Joint Pain Mental Restlessness Insomnia Back Pain and MANY more........ Ask your acupuncturist if acupuncture can help you with YOUR health concerns! Acupuncture is often associated with pain relief. While this is true, it also has much broader applications. Chinese Medicine can, in many cases, be used as the only treatment or in conjunction with other healthcare practices. Is It Safe?
Because acupuncture taps into the body's own natural healing there are very few adverse side affects. Acupuncture should be performed by board certified licensed professionals. These professionals use single-use disposable sterile needles. The risk of infection is extremely low.
